VietNamNet Bridge – State
President Nguyen Minh Triet yesterday inaugurated the Dang Thuy Tram
Polyclinic, named after the heroic woman doctor, in Pho Cuong Commune,
Duc Pho District in Quang Ngai Province.

He also visited the Dang
Thuy Tram General Hospital in Duc Pho Township, and asked doctors and
nurses to follow the example of heroic Dang Thuy Tram, who served the
liberation force and sacrificed her life during the American War in the
province.
He also met and presented
gifts to 17 former comrades of Dr Tram and 20 families of Hre ethnic
minority from Ba To District, where Tram worked and died.
In the afternoon, Triet and his delegation worked with provincial authorities. |

Geneva (VNA) - Viet Nam was officially admitted to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) during a special meeting of the WTO General Council on Nov. 7 in Geneva.
Eirick Glenne, Chairman of the WTO General Council-cum-Chairman of the Working Party on the Accession of Viet Nam to the WTO, marked the start of the meeting by summarising Viet Nam's negotiation process and gave final approval of Viet Nam's commitments with the consensus of all 149 WTO members. The council then approved Protocol WT/ACC/VNM/48 on Viet Nam's WTO accession. |

Ha Noi (VNA) - The Viet Nam Oil and Gas Corporation (PetroVietnam) and Ireland's ESB International (ESBI) signed, in Ha Noi on Dec. 1, a 5-million USD contract on consultancy services for the management of a power plant.
Under the contract, ESBI will assist Ho Chi Minh City's Gas Power Plan Project Management Board, representing PetroVietnam, in managing and supervising the Nhon Trach 1 Combined Cycle Power Plant Project in Phuoc Khanh, Nhon Trach district, southern Dong Nai province.
The 450MW plant will has include two gas turbines, two heat retrieving steam generators, and one steam turbine. The first gas turbine is expected to be put into operation in March 2008 and the steam turbine in late 2008.
Addressing the signing ceremony, PetroVietnam Deputy General Director Vu Quang Nam expressed his belief that the contract would pave the way for long-term cooperation between ESBI and PetroVietnam as well as improve the comprehensive relationship between the two countries and their businesses in the future.
ESBI, a subsidiary of Ireland's ESB Company, has been in Viet Nam for 20 years and took part in the Phu My 2.1 and 4, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau power plant projects.-Enditem |
