Ha Noi (VNA) - The Viet Nam Oil and Gas Corporation (PetroVietnam) and Ireland's ESB International (ESBI) signed, in Ha Noi on Dec. 1, a 5-million USD contract on consultancy services for the management of a power plant.

Under the contract, ESBI will assist Ho Chi Minh City's Gas Power Plan Project Management Board, representing PetroVietnam, in managing and supervising the Nhon Trach 1 Combined Cycle Power Plant Project in Phuoc Khanh, Nhon Trach district, southern Dong Nai province.

The 450MW plant will has include two gas turbines, two heat retrieving steam generators, and one steam turbine. The first gas turbine is expected to be put into operation in March 2008 and the steam turbine in late 2008.

Addressing the signing ceremony, PetroVietnam Deputy General Director Vu Quang Nam expressed his belief that the contract would pave the way for long-term cooperation between ESBI and PetroVietnam as well as improve the comprehensive relationship between the two countries and their businesses in the future.

ESBI, a subsidiary of Ireland's ESB Company, has been in Viet Nam for 20 years and took part in the Phu My 2.1 and 4, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau power plant projects.-Enditem
