VietNamNet Bridge – State President Nguyen Minh Triet yesterday inaugurated the Dang Thuy Tram Polyclinic, named after the heroic woman doctor, in Pho Cuong Commune, Duc Pho District in Quang Ngai Province. He also visited the Dang Thuy Tram General Hospital in Duc Pho Township, and asked doctors and nurses to follow the example of heroic Dang Thuy Tram, who served the liberation force and sacrificed her life during the American War in the province. He also met and presented gifts to 17 former comrades of Dr Tram and 20 families of Hre ethnic minority from Ba To District, where Tram worked and died. In the afternoon, Triet and his delegation worked with provincial authorities. The president was briefed on the province's socio-economic situation during the 2001-2005 term and the progress made in the first year of the 2006-2010 term. The province's report includes updates on the popularisation of compulsory education, and developments in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries. He was also given information on conditions in the six mountain districts and Dung Quat Economic Zone (EZ). Triet praised authorities' efforts in developing the province, especially over the past two year when growth in the area was between 11.7-12.7%. "Dung Quat EZ, with its oil refinery, the 400,000-tonne shipbuilding plant and other factories, will help develop not only the province but also the whole central region," said Triet. He urged authorities to find the best resolution for compensating of residents and recommended that authorities not only develop Dung Quat EZ but also other industrial zones to create more jobs. He also mentioned human resources training for zone employees - equipping them with greater foreign language skills to meet new market demands. (Source: Viet Nam News) |
