VietNamNet Bridge – The National Assembly (NA) Should continue to improve upon its legislative goals to meet the demands of voters, said NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong yesterday. Trong met with citizens in Hanoi's Dong Da District who talked about their concerns regarding food safety, administrative reform, urban planning, reducing vehicle crashes and preventing losses in the construction industry. The chairman responded to their questions with assurances the NA was looking into each problem with due care. Discussing the country future, Trong said Vietnam should not stray from its socialist roots and must integrate with the international community instead of become overwhelmed by its cultural values. Other key factors in the nation must remember include paying attention to economic growth and ensuring social equality for all Vietnamese. To make these goals a reality, Trong spoke of settling social issues, investing in healthcare and education, addressing the nation's traffic troubles and fighting drug abuse and prostitution. Trong said, in terms of the upcoming election, NA members had many responsibilities to make sure the people's voices are heard. Government officials are busy at work, Trong told the crowd, to make sure candidates from outside the Party, as well as sponsored representatives, follow all the rules and regulations in order to ensure the election is fair and democratic.
