VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Education and Training will conduct an appraisal on the educational prowess of grade five students nation-wide.
The testing system is viewed by authorities as a proven way to gauge the level of primary student education and a reference for future education plans. The examinations will test over one million students that will sit two multiple-choice tests on maths and the Vietnamese language. The Ministry of Education and Training said that the tests would not be conducted in house by individual primary schools but would instead be formulated and issued with the co-operation of both local and foreign experts. The appraisal aims at revising the quality and efficiency of the existing curriculum and text books at primary education level, from the first grade to the fifth grade. The appraisal's results will be compared with the outcome of the previous examinations which were held in 2002. The results will also go along way to assessing the performance of students in both a regional and global context, and are expected to act as a catalyst to raise Vietnam's educational system to fall in line with global standards. Testing will commence from May of this year. (Source: Viet Nam News) |
